Laser Lancing is a painless and stress free.     Some of our kits introductions:   Hepatitis C virus (HCV), which was formerly described as the parenterally transmitted form of non-A, non-B hepatitis (NANBH)1, becomes a chronic disease in 50% of the cases.2   HCV can also be transmitted through intravenous drug abuse, sexual , and household contact.3 Hepatitis C virus is a single stranded RNA virus with some structural relations to the flavivirus family.  Nucleic acid sequences of HCV cDNA clones provided the basis for the construction of recombinant peptides representing putative hepatitis C virus proteins.4,5  Anti-hepatitis C virus antibody screening of blood using synthetic or recombinant proteins, helped to identify apparently healthy blood donors with anti-HCV antibodies who otherwise might have transmitted the virus.6   This is an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay using recombinant proteins derived from core regions of HCV virus to detect the presence of HCV antibodies in human sera.RSV, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, is the major cause of respiratory illness in all ages. It represents the most frequent cause of serious respiratory tract infections in infants and children younger than 4 years of age but is also responsible for severe problems in elderly and immunocompromised patients giving rise to high death rates. Pneumonia and bronchiolitis are the two most frequent severe infections prevalent in infants aged 2 to 6 months. Infection of older children and adult may be mild, usually self-limiting, causing nasal stuffiness and discharge not distinguishable from a common cold. Each year, up to 50 % of infants are infected. RSV disease causes about 70 % of bronchiolotis and results in 80,000 to 125,000 hospitalisations in the US. Those children who require hospitalisation are newborns and those who suffer from asthma, lung disorders or heart problems. Moreover, RSV bronchiolitis in the first year of life is one of the most important risk factors for the subsequent development of asthma. It is a highly contagious disease through contact with respiratory secretions. It is also a common cause of nosocomial infections whose prevalence increases during community outbreaks through casual contacts. RSV affects both the upper and lower respiratory tracts, but pneumonia and bronchiolitis are the most prevalent lower respiratory illnesses. Bronchiolitis could be recognized by cough, wheeze, onset of dyspnea, increase of respiratory rate up to 40 breaths per minute and bluish discoloration of the skin around the mouth. Findings of crackles and respiratory distress are common symptoms of pneumonia.Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein hormone normally produced by the placenta during pregnancy.  The HCG molecule consists of two combined, dissimilar subunits designated alpha and beta.  The beta subunit, with a molecular weight of approximately 30,000 Daltons, confers biological and immunological specificity to the entire HCG molecule by virtue of its unique amino acid sequence and content.  The alpha subunit, with a molecular weight of approximately 18,000 Daltons, is essentially identical to the alpha subunit of the pituitary glycoprotein hormones; luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).The appearance of HCG in urine or serum soon after conception and its rapid rise in concentration makes it an ideal indicator for the detection and confirmation of pregnancy.  However, elevated HCG levels are also frequently associated with trophoblastic and non trophoblastic neoplasmas; these conditions should be considered before a diagnosis of pregnancy can be made.Immunoassays utilizing antibodies specific to HCG provide a sensitive and specific technique allowing early detection of pregnancy around the time of the first missed menstrual In women with a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.), levels of HCG have been reported to be higher than those expected during a normal single pregnancy.  This is probably the result of the increased placental mass necessary to sustain multiple fetuses.  Also, as one might suspect, cases of placental insufficiency show levels of HCG lower than those expected during normal pregnancy.  Decreased values have also been associated with threatened abortion and ectopic pregnancy.The HCG EIA test provides a rapid, sensitive and reliable assay.  The antibodies developed for the test will determine a minimal concentration of 5 mIU/ml.HBsAg is one of the earliest markers that appear in the blood following infection with Hepatitis B virus (HBV). This infection of the liver is transmitted by homosexual or heterosexual activity, blood borne exposure, mother - infant, close personal contact and by intake of contaminated water and food products. In the HBV infected people, the virus persists for the rest of their lives and can be passed on to others. Therefore Hepatitis B has become a global public health problem.Infection with HBV results in the appearance of a number of serological markers and one of the first of such markers is Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). The HBV infection causes a wide variety of liver damages such as acute self-limiting infection, fulminating hepatitis, chronic hepatitis with progression to cirrhosis and liver failure, and a symptomatic chronic carrier state.Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) appears 1-7 weeks before biochemical evidence of liver disease or jaundice. Three weeks after the onset of acute hepatitis almost half of the patients will still be positive for HBsAg. In the chronic carrier state, the HBsAg persists for long periods (6-12 months) with no seroconversion to the corresponding antibodies. Therefore, screening for HBsAg is highly desirable for all donors, pregnant women and people in high-risk groups. The HEV Ab EIA is a solid-phase simultaneous immunoassay to detect antibody against HEV.  Microwells are coated with HEV multiple epitopes synthetic peptide and recombinant antigen. A serum specimen and the specimen diluent are added to the microwells. After incubation, the unbound antibody are washed away, and then add Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated HEV antigen, the complex of antigen-antibody-antigen (HRP-conjugated HEV, anti-HEV antibody and HEV on the wells) will be formed.The unbound enzyme conjugates will be washed away and then the chromogen substrate solution containing urea peroxide is added to the wells. A blue color is developed in proportion to the amount of anti-HEV antibody in the specimens. The enzyme-substrate reaction is stopped by the addition of sulfuric acid.  The absorbance of controls and specimens is determined by using EIA reader with wavelength set at 450 nm.Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type (HIV-1) has been isolated from patients with AIDS and AIDS-related complex (ARC). HIV-1 was thought to be the sole causive agent of these syndromes until 1986, when a second type of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV-2) was isolated and also reported to cause AIDS. Since the initial discovery, more than 600 cases of HIV-2 infection have been documented worldwide, with over 40 cases of AIDS related to HIV-2.  Both viruses have the same morphology and lymphotropism, and the modes of transmission appear to be identical.  In addition, HIV-1 and HIV-2 genomes exhibit about 60% homology in conserved genes such as gag and pol.  Serologic studies have also shown that the core proteins of HIV-1 and HIV-2 display frequent cross-reactivity whereas the envelope proteins are more type-specific.  Despite this immunologic cross-reactivity, detection of antibodies to HIV-2 with any of the licensed HIV-1 enzyme immunoassays is highly variable.  This HIV-1/HIV-2 EIA was developed to detect antibodies to HIV-1 and /or HIV-2, for blood screening and diagnostic purposes.  Any specimen that reacts in an initial test with the HIV-1/HIV-2 EIA must be retested in duplicate with the other company’s HIV-1/HIV-2 EIA.  Repeatably reactive specimens may contain antibodies to either HIV-1 or HIV-2. Therefore, additional, more specific or supplemental tests for antibodies to both HIV-1 and HIV-2 such as immunoblot, immunofluorescence, radioimmuno-precipitation must be performed to verify presence of antibodies to HIV.  The HIV-1/HIV-2 EIA utilizes a detection system where microplate wells are coated with synthetic peptides and recombinant antigen corresponding to a highly antigenic segment of HIV-1/HIV-2 envelope and core proteins. Serum or plasma specimens, controls are added to the wells. During incubation, antibodies specific for HIV-1 and HIV-2 present in the specimen will bind to the peptides and recombinant antigen fixed onto the microplate wells.  The wells are washed to remove unbound materials, and recombinant antigen conjugate will bind to the antigen-antibody complex and excess unbound enzyme conjugates are again removed by washing. The enzyme substrate, tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), is added upon incubation the substrate will be hydrolyzed by the bound enzyme and a blue or blue-green colour develops in wells containing HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 specific antibodies.  The enzyme reaction is stopped by the addition of sulphuric acid.  The intensity of colour developed is read spectrophotometrically at 450nm and is proportional to the amount of antibodies present in the specimen.Human gastroenteritis is a multifactorial disease. It can be caused by various pathogens agents : viruses (Adenovirus or Rotavirus), bacteria (Salmonella) or protozoan microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium parvum. Diagnosis of the ethiological agent of diarrhea can only be performed in laboratory since no relevant clinical signs allow to differenciate amongst different microorganisms. Moreover classical techniques involving cell culture, electron microscopy, floatation and staining techniques allow to identify these agents, it is well known that these ways of identification are time consuming and sometimes not sensitive enough. ELISA technology has rapidly replaced these techniques giving rise to simplicity, rapidity, sensitivity and specificity. Unfortunately this procedure is time and money consuming and not suitable for physicians or for one shot analysis. Moreover, in emergency case, the only possibility to diagnose Adenovirus is to perform a latex test which is less sensitive than ELISA, needs faecal material manipulation and more or less skill to be interpretated. Carcinoembroyonic antigen (CEA) is a cell-surface 200-kd glycoprotein.  In 1969, it was reported that plasma CEA was elevated in 35 of 36 patients with adenocarcinoma of the colon and that CEA titers decreased after successful surgery.  Normal levels were observed in all patients with other forms of cancer or benign diseases.  Subsequent studies have not confirmed these initial findings, and it is now understood that elevated levels of CEA are found in many cancers.  Increased levels of CEA are observed in more than 30% of patients with cancer of the lung, liver, pancreas, breast, colon, head or neck, bladder, cervix, and prostate. Elevated plasma levels are related to the stage and extent of the disease, the degree of differentiation of the tumor, and the site of metastasis. CEA is also found in  normal tissue.  The  CEA ELISA Kit is based on a solid phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.  The assay system utilizes one monoclonal anti-CEA antibody for solid phase (microtiter wells) immobilization and another mouse monoclonal anti-CEA antibody in the antibody-enzyme (horseradish peroxidase) conjugate solution. The standards and test specimen (serum) are added to the CEA antibody coated microtiter wells. Then CEA antibody labeled with horseradish peroxidase (conjugate) is added.  If human CEA is present in the specimen, it will combine with the antibody on the well and the enzyme conjugate resulting in the CEA molecules being sandwiched between the solid phase and enzyme-linked antibodies.  After a 1 hour incubation at room temperature, the wells are washed with water to remove unbound labeled antibodies.  A solution of TMB is added and incubated for 10 minutes, resulting in the development of a blue color.  The color development is stopped with the addition of 2N HCl. The color is changed to yellow and measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm. The concentration of CEA is directly proportional to the color intensity of the test sample.   Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein with a molecular weigh of approximately 70,000 daltons.  AFP is normally produced during fetal and neonatal development by the liver, yolksac, and in small concentrations by the gastrointestinal tract.  After birth, serum AFP concentrations decrease rapidly, and by the second year of life and thereafter only trace amounts are normally detected in serum. Elevation of serum AFP to abnormally high values occurs in several malignant diseases, most notably nonseminomatous testicular cancer and primary hepatocellular carcinoma.  In the case of  nonseminomatous testicular Human gastroenteritis is a multifactorial disease. Rotaviruses have been identified in almost 50% of the faeces of children with gastroenteritis. Rotavirus infections occur frequently during the winter months. Gastroenteritis from enteric viruses can be mortal in risk populations such as children, the elderly or immunosuppressed individuals. Characteristic symptoms include vomiting, hydrodiarrhoea for between 3 and 8 days, high temperature and stomach pains. Rotaviruses transferred via the faecal-oral route are eliminated in large quantities into the intestine, so that hospital-borne infections from rotaviruses are regarded very seriously, particularly in baby stations and paediatric clinics, and are difficult to control.
